The Libra New Moon October 10th puts the spotlight on your relationships, agreements, cooperative endeavors, reciprocity, fair exchanges and justice.
Libra’s scales remind us that healthy relationships require some degree of give and take but balance doesn’t mean sucking it up just to keep the peace.
Sometimes an imbalance forms when the scales are tipped too far because one person is constantly compromising, accommodating, giving more, asking for less, or accepting terms that don’t actually work for them.
This lunation wants you to take another look at the agreements you make with others—and whether or not they’re still fair to everyone involved.
And with Venus, the ruler of this Libra New Moon, retrograde in Scorpio, this phase is about reconsidering who and what you love, value, desire, appreciate, trust and invest yourself in.
♀️ Relationships Under Review
Venus retrograde in Scorpio plunges the Libra relationship story into darker depths.
Matters surrounding love, attraction, sex, intimacy, trust, close bonds and soul connections are under review, along with money, worth, shared resources and the energetic exchanges within our relationships.
While Venus is doing a deep dive, the universe could bring up old feelings, people from your past, old partners, patterns or unresolved issues. This phase provides an opportunity and the space to take a closer look and really feel into what you want now rather than what you’ve wanted—or accepted—in the past.
During this period, you may have to assess who and what you trust, where you’re investing your time, energy and resources, if there are genuine exchanges between you and others and if your arrangements and agreements are a true reflection of who you’ve become.
Venus in Scorpio has little interest in playing nice to keep up appearances when something underneath it needs to be addressed.
And this time around, what’s under the surface changes the terms.
🔥 What Do You Really Want?
Venus retrograde in Scorpio is also having it out with Mars in Leo. This is a passionate pairing that adds heat, intensity and friction to any love story.
There’s something undeniably magnetic about this combination. Sparks can fly and attraction is palpable. Everyone in the room can feel this kind of energy. Certain encounters can wake something up inside of you that you haven’t felt in forever and maybe forgot it even exists at all.
This Venus retrograde phase could bring a rekindling of an old flame or passion—but it could just as well be a rekindling of you—your inner essence and inner spark.
A remembrance.
Oh yeah. This is what it feels like to want. To desire. To feel my heart stir. To come alive. To fully BE.
Venus in Scorpio wants depth, intimacy, trust and meaningful connection, while Mars in Leo wants to follow the heart, play with life and feel alive.
And this stirs something in you—attraction, desire, sexual tension, passion, jealousy, creative sparks or romantic pursuits. Whatever it is for you.
There could also be conflicting desires, whether that’s between you and another or even within yourself. On the one hand there’s a desire for more closeness and deeper connection. On the other, there’s a desire for creative freedom—to pursue your passions and do you.
But this can also be very revealing.
It’s pointing to where desire has gone dormant for whatever reason—maybe you’ve been unwilling or afraid to admit what you want. Maybe you haven’t had the courage to just go for it. Maybe you’ve been waiting on someone else to fulfill something instead of owning that desire for yourself.
And perhaps there’s something more under all of this:
Maybe you don’t believe you’re allowed to have it or to want it.
It’s time to get real about who and what you’re drawn to, what lights you up and awakens your heart—but also what’s under that spark you’re feeling.
Something can make you feel fully alive without offering the depth, trust or meaningful connection you’re craving.
And something can offer security and connection but doesn’t really light you up at all.
And it doesn’t necessarily need to be an either/or situation—as this pairing can show you there is room for both in your life. You don’t have to choose—you’re allowed to want both.
⚡ A Shift in Perspective
Venus retrograde in Scorpio also forms an awkward angle to Uranus in Gemini—there’s something shifting or adjusting as your newly awakened awareness locks in.
Uranus in Gemini can bring sudden shifts in perspective—a new idea, possibility or a new way of looking at a situation that maybe you hadn’t considered before. And this new perspective can change your views on relationships, attraction, desires, trust and what you really want.
And that doesn’t mean that it comes as some huge revelation—but it could.
It could be a captivating conversation that gets your wheels turning, a stimulating exchange of ideas, something you read or hear in passing, a piece of information, or an invitation that seems to land at exactly the right moment.
You know—one of those little cosmic cowinkydinks. 😉
It may be that something seemingly random grabs your attention because it speaks directly to something that’s already been occupying your headspace.
A conversation could open a door. Maybe someone says something that hits differently, or you’re suddenly pulled toward someone or something that you typically wouldn’t give a second look to.
Maybe you look at an old situation in a new way—a realization that makes you say to yourself, “I never thought of it that way before.”
🌟 Growth and Possibilities
Jupiter in Leo forms a supportive connection to the Libra New Moon, adding a dose of optimism, confidence and opportunity to the mix.
Jupiter here brings expansion through the heart—creativity, genuine self-expression, confidence, joy and the courage to show up more authentically as yourself. Jupiter encourages you to take up more space in your own life—to let yourself be seen, express what you really feel and who you really are, and allow yourself to believe that there’s more available than you ever thought possible.
The Universe is granting you an opportunity here to grow beyond old relationship dynamics and agreements by bringing more of who you actually are into them.
Without honesty, sincerity and integrity, your agreements will struggle to survive. You don’t need to over give, shrink yourself or dim your light to make yourself more palatable for someone else’s taste. Go on and be your undiluted 100 proof self.
The more authentically you show up, the easier it becomes to recognize the right people, opportunities and situations that actually have room for you.
🪨 But Will It Hold?
Saturn in Aries sits across the sky from this Libra New Moon, hitting you with a bit of a reality check.
Saturn says: consider your responsibilities, be accountable, create boundaries, keep your commitments, know your limitations and be aware of consequences—while Aries puts the emphasis on personal authority, autonomy, the responsibility you have to yourself, as well as your role and responsibility in your interactions and connections with others.
Libra wants to find the middle ground—but Saturn in Aries can reveal where the scales have tipped too far—and where that’s the case, Saturn says it’s a no go.
There are responsibilities you have to others, but there are also responsibilities you have to yourself. Your time, energy, limits, needs and choices also matter. Any agreement that requires you to constantly override those things is going to be a red flag.
And let’s not get it twisted—boundaries aren’t only about what you find unacceptable from someone else. They’re also about being clear about what you can realistically contribute and sustain.
You may come face-to-face with the terms and conditions of your relationships and arrangements and ask whether they’re realistic, reciprocal and sustainable during this phase.
Because fairness has to include all parties involved—and that means you, too.
🌾 It Runs in the Family
Ceres in Cancer squares the Libra New Moon, bringing up themes surrounding nurturing, caretaking, family, home, fitting in and belonging.
Situations that surface now may revolve around the family dynamics, emotional patterns and early experiences that helped shape what love, care and connection look and feel like to you.
Some of those patterns may be deeply rooted within your psyche and have operated on autopilot in your adult relationships without you even realizing it.
Maybe you learned that being needed or useful meant being appreciated—so to you, love meant taking care of everyone else, sometimes even at the expense of yourself.
Or maybe you took on the responsibility of keeping everyone happy or learned to make yourself easier to deal with by compromising, accommodating, appeasing others and not rocking the boat.
Or maybe you’re much more comfortable being the giver and the “go-to girl or guy”—the one everyone else depends on—so receiving or asking for help feels vulnerable or even selfish.
And perhaps there are times when you’re feeling shortchanged, depleted or wondering who the hell you can lean on when you’re in need of care or support.
And that can be very revealing.
You may have to assess which relationships you feel at home in, which ones genuinely feel safe and supportive, and which are just familiar, habitual and part of the pattern.
It’s easy to be drawn toward people, dynamics and situations that recreate something that feels familiar. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s fated or that it’s even good for you. Sometimes it’s because you already know how to function within that type of dynamic. It comes easy to you and feels natural.
And that’s why it’s easy to overlook a pattern as it goes unnoticed until something happens that interrupts it. But many of these patterns may go back even further and have been passed through families and bloodlines. It’s possible that you’ve been carrying a pattern your mother carried—or your father, grandmother, grandfather or generations before them.
The pattern may not have started with you—maybe you are the interruption.
Part of creating healthier relationships and agreements is deciding what patterns should end with you.
⚖️ Justice Is Served
The Sabian Symbol for this Libra New Moon is “Two Men Placed Under Arrest.”
Libra is symbolized by the scales, which represent balance and justice. Justice requires accountability and consequences for the choices you make, agreements you break, the boundaries you cross and the actions you take—or don’t.
This could point to where accountability has been M.I.A. and could signal that it’s time for everyone to own up to their part in what’s happened in your relationships and agreements with others.
On the collective level, this could show up quite literally through matters involving the law, courts, arrests, investigations, rulings, agreements or paying the consequences that are due.
Saturn—aka the Lord of Karma—is staring down this New Moon from across the sky, emphasizing that accountability and consequences eventually come knocking—and this is one of those times.
⚖️ My, How Terms Have Changed
This Libra New Moon is an opening to rebalance the scales and reconsider the terms of your relationships, agreements and exchanges with others. You’re getting clearer about who you are, what you want, what you’re willing to give.
Make sure the new terms include fairness to you too.
